Making the Prince of Peace key in your life

“For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.” (Isaiah 9:6-7 NASB)

The Prince of Peace!

This is one of the four identifying titles provided by Isaiah in his first description of the coming Messiah (found in chapter 9 v6.) the others being Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, and Eternal Father.

Matthew Henry writing on this verse says: “As a King, he preserves the peace, commands peace, nay, he creates peace, in his kingdom. He is our peace, and it is His peace that both keeps the hearts of His people and rules in them. He is not only a peaceable prince, and his reign peaceable, but he is the author and giver of all good, all that peace which is the present and future bliss of his subjects.” (Commentary accessed at BibleGateway.com)

When we accept Christ into our lives and are reborn as Christians- this is the life we are inviting to take over our life. –the peace of Christ that comes from residing in His kingdom- now, today, not at death when we receive the new perfect body and live eternally with the Father for all time.

When we become Christians scripture tells us that we will be indwelt with the Holy Spirit of God- Literally God in Us - making US a TEMPLE unto the Lord. This means that we should become so full of the peace of God, that we overflow with it and it spills out onto all of those around us making them wonder what we have that they don’t!

As we begin the process of preparing for CHRISTmas, I pray that Our Lord and Savior will fillyour life with the peace only HE can provide. Remember each day to start by asking Jesus to fill you with His peace so you can share it with others in need of it.
