Is Christianity A BAD thing?

I don’t know! Is it wrong to believe that there is a purpose for you to exist in this world at this time? Is it impossible to think that there could be something that created this world, and that this beautiful planet with all the various types of plants and animals, were made on purpose and not some mistake of nature? Would it be a bad thing to believe that doing things for other people is a good thing?
Having common values you share with other people in your community is a good thing? Isn’t it? Christianity teaches that helping others is a way to show others God’s love. Is helping others who need clothes, obtain gently used clothing, a bad thing? Is feeding people who do not have enough to eat, a bad thing? Society does not seem to frown at these or there would not be so many second-hand stores for clothing; Nor would there be so many soup kitchens or food banks. There are definitely needs for these in our community – so why is it considered a bad thing for Christians to take care of these people?
If everyone in a community believed that taking care of or helping out a neighbor was an automatic thing, just think of how much nicer all of the community would look and act. By the way, when did it become a bad thing to help a neighbor? Do you even know your neighbors? When we moved into my parent’s house, we made a point of getting to know some of the neighbors. My parents only knew one of them – and they went to the same church. I have never asked whether any of the neighbors go to church, instead I have just learned a little about them. We wave across lawns, and I get some puppy time from some of their dogs. But if one of them had a major problem, we would help them if we could.
As a Christian, I was always taught to treat everyone like I want to be treated. I think if more people did this, the world would be a better place – unless you like to be yelled and cursed at! I do not like being treated like I am below anyone else, so I try to treat everyone as equals. In treating everyone as equals, I respect how others chose to live. I respect their properties by treating their yards better than I treat mine (because it is theirs and does not belong to me).
It seems to be an odd concept these days to treat everyone like they are not perfect…allowing people to be imperfect. We ALL have faults! IF we were all perfect we wouldn’t need each other… needing each other (counting on others) is part of being human. It is the way God made us to be (that is how I believe). We need each other and our different viewpoints to improve our communities, neighborhoods, cities, and states! IF we were all perfect, life would be boring! PLUS, we would not have comedies or dramas – and THAT would be boring.
Needless to say – I believe Christianity is not bad. It creates a community with similar values who work to improve situations around them and care for others. If that is a bad thing – then I will be bad. Christians also believe they serve God – a higher being – who designed people for good things… if that is a bad thing – then I will continue being bad. Christians also protect life – from conception until natural death… if that is a bad thing, then I chose to keep being bad! As part of protecting life, Christians believe no one is perfect, except God; AND, that every person has worth… if that is a bad thing, well (you guessed it), I will just keep being bad!
IS Christianity a BAD thing? I sure do not believe so. But tell me what you think!!!
