1 John 3: 16-18

"This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth."

Now that we have made it through the Thanksgiving holiday drama (at least that is how it is with our families). I want to turn our attention toward being true Christians as we begin to focus on the arrival of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ this Christmas.

Our society tends to get so focused on the material side of the holiday that they tend to miss the true point. In fact, many people seem to be offended if we even bring up Jesus as the focus or reason for the celebrations.

So let us begin this season of Christmas with a commitment to shine Jesus into every place we go for the next month.

Let us be willing to put aside our priorities, even for just a moment, to be helpful to others when not expected.

Let us be willing to give the other person priority and respect, even when it causes us delay.

Let us be willing to “pay it forward” to make someone’s day a bit brighter.

Let us be the ones willing to stop and pray, comfort, or listen to those who appear to need it.

Let us go out of our way to find the “God moments”, only He can place in front of us each day, and say “o.k. God what would you have me do now?”

The Apostle John in our passage for the day calls us to “do Christianity” not just speak it. Let’s all DO Christianity this Christmas season and watch what God can do through us!

We would love to hear about any results of what God does through you this Christmas.

Blessings on your Journey.

NOTE: We will be launching a podcast on Doing Christianity (working title) in 2023 hosted on Spotify.
