Our daughter got married A couple years ago. It was a fall wedding And The wedding was very Non-traditional but reflected the two being married. As I look back on this event, There are a few things I wish I had done...

First, Would be to enjoy the day more. We were still setting things up as Guests started to arrive. So I was unable to really even see my daughter for more than a couple of minutes before the Wedding...And those were taking pictures. While I love those pictures, I wish I had had time to slow down and hug her longer. I also was not able to be the hostess and greet guests as I wanted to do, but the guests didn't seem to mind.

Second, i would have packed differently. I should have put together each of the displays they wanted into specific boxes - MARKED boxes. This would have made set up and clean up much easier.

Third, I would Mark all of the items which were being borrowed from people - That way everything would have gotten back to everyone.

Forth, I would have taken disposable containers to split up the leftovers into. We took a few, but not enough. Also being able to Mark these with a sharpie or permanent marker would have made splitting up the leftovers easier. I could have marked what was claimed and what was still available.

Lastly, I would have liked to thank everyone who graciously helped us clean up. I was so thankful, BUT I wish I would have asked them to mark boxes or put things back into the correct boxes. Six months later, I still didn't know where some items ended up.

Even though I have helped with several weddings, It was different with it being my own daughter. There were several of us doing the planning and I was supposed to be coordinating. If I had it to do again, I think I would let someone else do the organizing and just be "the overly involved Mom". But I was honored that my daughter wanted me involved.

Do you have any tips on wedding planning? Please comment below!!
