WELCOME to Church Event Planning: A Blog to help YOU plan events God and HIS People will want to attend!

First, allow me to introduce myself… I am Kari MacClennan. My passion is to help Christians learn more about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit through encouraging and uplifting messages. One area in which I have a lot of experience in…is event planning! My plan is to share some of the tips and experiences (good and bad) I have had with you through this blog.

I have been doing all kinds of event planning for churches, organizations, and family members for over 40 years! I have also attended a LOT of different events – from conferences to trainings, award dinners to birthday parties, and nearly everything in-between. I have also assisted in running parties, volunteer dinners, fundraisers, and more … and even international multi-day conferences.

I also have a book that was published in 2021 available with many more tips in it. First Class Events: A Guide To Christian Hospitality is available through seedspreadersministry.org for $25 including shipping, If you are interested!

Event planning for churches can often be difficult. This blog will try to cover some of the common mistakes and share ways which might overcome them.

NOW FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANT TIP!!!

The best and most often missed step for great church events is so simple it will amaze you. See this step is not difficult at all and everyone (involved or not) can do it!

PRAY.

Seems simple doesn’t it, but you would be amazed at how many events I have attended and after issues have happened, I have asked, “Did you ask God what to do?” The answer was most often, “What?... No!”

As a CHURCH – especially a Christian Church – It is assumed that people are praying. But if the person or people involved in running the event are NOT praying, then God has NOT been invited to your event!

I know this can seem silly, but if you do not invite God to your event, God will not attend! You see, God is a gentleman and will not go where HE is not invited. [That is why we have to invite Him into our Hearts to become His followers.]

So, my first and best advice is PRAY!

· Pray about everything!

· Pray before and after planning sessions!

· Pray for and about all that is happening at your event!

Maybe even make it God’s event that you are the human running – you may even be amazed with what happens! GOD has a habit of turning something ordinary into some thing Extraordinary!

Keep praying – sometimes events seem difficult – but, with God helping – NOT so difficult at all!
